Stocks can be halal if the underlying company passes Sharia screening, meaning its core business is permissible and its debt and interest-based income ratios stay within accepted thresholds. Use a halal stock screener to verify before investing.
Are ETFs halal?
Some ETFs are halal. Sharia-compliant ETFs track Islamic indices and screen out companies involved in forbidden activities. Always check whether an ETF has been certified by a Sharia supervisory board before investing.
Is investing in stocks haram?
Investing in stocks is not automatically haram. Scholars generally permit investing in companies whose primary business is halal, provided the company's financials also meet Sharia ratios.
